Mu Phi Epsilon is a coeducational, professional music fraternity whose mission is:
- To advance music in the community, nation, and throughout the world;
- To promote musicianship, scholarship, music therapy, and music education, with emphasis on service through music; and
- To enhance loyalty to the Alma Mater and develop true bonds of friendship.
Mu Phi Epsilon was founded by Dr. Winthrop S. Sterling and Elizabeth Mathias Fuqua on November 13, 1903, at the Metropolitan College of Music, Cincinnati, Ohio. The Fraternity’s membership is composed of collegiate chapters, alumni chapters and allied members.
The St. Louis Alumni Chapter was installed April 14, 1914.
The St. Louis Alumni Chapter has members in and serves the greater St. Louis metropolitan area as well as parts of Western and Central Illinois. Our membership includes music performers, educators, therapists, composers, church music leaders, organists/pianists.
