Mu Phi Epsilon Home Chapters & Members International Corner

Mu Phi Epsilon International Corner Blog

Welcome to the International Corner!

Hi, my name is Keith Ford, chairman of the International Committee and Allied Member living in London, UK.  I became a member of the fraternity as an undergraduate student in Kansas City, and since moving to England in 2003 I have benefited enormously from my continued links with Mu Phi Epsilon.

Mu Phi Epsilon has long been an organization with a strong international personality.  Musicians have come from abroad to the United States to study music and join MPE.  The fraternity includes musicians who have moved to or returned home to Europe, South America and Asia.

The International Corner serves to support members outside the United States, both those who are returning to their home countries and those who are moving overseas for work or school.  Members who are not near an active chapter overseas may enroll in Allied Membership.

Benefits of Allied Membership include

1)  Networking

Moving to a new country or back to your home country can be challenging.  Do I look left or right when I cross the road?  Where is a good place to live?  What did that person just say to me?  Did I say something wrong?  I got to find a job! -- so where do you start?  The International Corner is a space where international members can meet each other and advise one another on matters of culture and work.  For example, I have had the pleasure of meeting up with members who have moved to England, and we have been able to help each other.

2)  Scholarships

Members benefit enormously from scholarships when in the United States.  These opportunities are extended to those members who become Allied Members when they move overseas.

3)  Continued Links with America

We live in a linked-up world.  Keeping in touch with old friends in the USA both through 'The Triangle' and on the phone and Internet is a great support and can lead to work opportunities in the States.
